THE ORIGINAL HUMANITARIAN AWARD WAS BESTOWED IN 1997 UPON NICHOLAS E. D’AGOSTINO, THE FIRST PRINCIPAL OF WOLCOTT HIGH SCHOOL AND 50+ YEAR MEMBER OF THE WOLCOTT LION’S CLUB. IN 1968, HE WAS PROMOTED TO SUPERINTENDENT OF WOLCOTT PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND SERVED AS PRESIDENT OF THE CONNECTICUT ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENTS (CAPSS). HIS TIME AS AN EDUCATOR AND ADMINISTRATOR EARNED HIM MANY AWARDS AND ACCOLADES AS A ARDENT SUPPORTER OF STUDENTS AND EDUCATION AND A BELOVED HUMANITARIAN. HE PASSED AWAY IN 2014. THIS AWARD IS GIVEN TO AN INDIVIDUAL IN THE WOLCOTT COMMUNITY WHO WORKS TO BETTER THEIR COMMUNITY AND IS A TIRELESS GOOD NEIGHBOR TO ALL.
